Match the Pairs (Thanksgiving)

Four soft watercolor Thanksgiving pictures on the left (a pumpkin, an acorn, a pumpkin pie and a turkey) and the same four mixed up on the right. Children draw a line from each dot to the matching picture's dot.

Age3–4 years
PaperA4 / Letter, 1 page
Time10 minutes
Parent tipBefore drawing any lines, let your child point to a picture on the left and find its twin on the right with a finger. Tracing the path with a finger first makes the pencil line much easier.

How to use this worksheet

  1. Name each picture on the left together: pumpkin, acorn, pie, turkey.
  2. Find the same picture on the right and draw a line from dot to dot.
  3. When all four are matched, color the pictures.

What your child practices

Looking carefully and finding things that are the same, an early thinking skill behind sorting, reading and math. Drawing a line from one dot to another also builds pencil control, because the child has to start and stop on purpose and steer across the page.

Who it is for

Made for preschoolers around three to four. Lines can cross, and wobbly lines are completely fine. If four pairs feel like a lot, cover the bottom two rows with a sheet of paper and do two at a time.

Make it a Thanksgiving game

Play a real matching game while you cook or set the table: hand your child one of a pair (a fork, a napkin, a spoon) and ask them to find the one that matches. Saying "same" and "different" out loud helps them explain what they see.
